Systematic name M8031
Brief description Genes down-regulated in bone marrow-derived macrophages: wildtype versus STAT6 [GeneID=6778] knockout.
Full description or abstract C57Bl/6 wild-type and STAT6 KO mice were used to study PPARg and IL-4 signaling. Bone marrow of 3 mice per group was isolated and differentiated to macrophages with M-CSF (20 ng/ml). 20 ng/ml IL-4 was used to induce alternative macrophage activation and 1 uM Rosiglitazone (RSG) was used to activate PPARg. From each mouse 4 samples were generated: 1. M-CSF, 2. M-CSF+RSG, 3. IL-4 and 4. IL-4+RSG. All compounds were added throughout the whole differentiation process, and frech media was added every other day. Control cells were treated with vehicle (DMSO:ethanol). After 10 days, RNA was isolated and gene expression profiles were analyzed using Mouse Genome 430 2.0 microarrays from Affymetrix.

We need your help: Update on GSEA/MSigDB funding support

Last November we submitted a proposal to NCI's Information Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) program for the continued funding of GSEA and MSigDB. Unfortunately, our proposal was not funded in this round, but we were encouraged to resubmit for the next one. This funding is critical for our continuing support and enhancement of the GSEA-MSigDB resource.

For our original submission many of you sent us emails of support, an important requirement for these grants. We now ask for your help again. We would greatly appreciate a short email message from you describing how the resource has been of value to your work and any concerns you may have about its continued availability.

Please send us your message of support to on or before Monday June 5, 2023.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.
The GSEA/MSigDB Team.
