Human Gene Set: THALER_BONE60

Standard name THALER_BONE60
Systematic name M49141
Brief description Genes selectively higher expressed in human and mouse bone tissue compared to a series of other muskuloskeltal and non muskuloskeletal human and mouse tissues
Full description or abstract For the definition of Bone60 gene-set raw-files own as well as from publically available RNA-Seq datasets from different human and/or control wildtype mouse tissues were downloaded from the NCBI-SRA database, assessed for read quality with fastqc version 0.72 and analyzed by organism. To further normalize for possible batch effects between the samples, RUVSeq was applied in conjunction with DESeq2. Bone tissue-related gene-sets as defined by DESeq2 and including already well-known bone related genes, were then compared between human and mouse and only genes found in both organisms were selected for the final gene-sets.
